Students about the Engineering University Preparatory programme

  • Alma Snowhorn (Texas, USA)

“After moving from Texas to Hungary, I discovered that my mathematics studies needed some refreshing. I was lucky enough to find Valéria Balogh to help me in both maths and physics. She helped me recall and relearn everything step by step, week by week, until opening my notebook and seeing the last problem we had worked on felt like second nature.

Whether she taught me something I had already learned in high school and forgotten or whether it was a completely foreign concept, I felt comfortable asking questions and she patiently explained anything that confused me. All in all I feel that she really helped me not only in my technical skills, but also in rethinking how to solve things whenever I am stuck, which I am so very grateful for.”

    Diamand Mean (Cambodia)

“Hi, my name is Diamand. I’m from Cambodia which is located in Southeast Asia. Now, I’m currently a first-year student in Computer Science Engineering at Budapest University of Technology and Economics (better known as BME). I was being able to get accepted into this university by passing the entrance exam, and that is all thank to Mrs. Valéria Balogh for being my maths tutor for these past few months before the entrance exam started.

At that time, I had a training course with her in maths subjects, she helped me a lot in improving my maths skills and also helped me to prepare for the entrance exam. So basically, every time that I have a class with her, she will always give me lessons that are related to important topics and explain them in a very detailed way for me to be able to understand them clearly. After that, she gives me exercises or sample tests to practice on as homework and I have to send it back to her for the evaluation and for her to find my weaknesses in which part that I don’t understand and she will help to improve that part by explaining in more detail until I understand everything. Not only that, but she also provided me a helpful maths website on the internet that will also help me to improves even more maths skills of mine because on that website there were some more explanations and exercises to practice on. It was great having classes with Mrs. Valéria because after this course I gained more knowledge, experiences, and well-prepared for the entrance exam. In the end, I passed the entrance exam and got accepted by the Dean of the faculty into the university.”

    Esraa Elragas (Libya)

“My name is Esraa Elragas, and I am from Libya. I have started studying at the BME University in Sep- tember 2015. At first, I was facing a problem with understanding some of the English classes, so I went to Mrs. Valéria Balogh. She offered me her help, that she could teach me some of the courses, such as Maths, and advised me to meet Dr. George Horváth to improve my English. Both of them were essential in my academic success; they strengthened me, taught me how to study, and taught me to rely on myself.

There were so many hard things to understand and follow, and they simplified it for me, then I became able to understand the courses in a more effective way. I am so glad that I met them at the right time. Thank you very much for all the time and the hard work that you both offered me.”

    Yagız Sen (Turkey)

“I would like to take the time to appreciate how much Mrs. Valéria Balogh and Dr. George Horváth have helped me improve on the subjects that I have deemed as wearisome.

Not only have I improved on fields that I lacked in, I have also learnt new techniques on tackling specific problems. The courses have been beneficial for me to freshen my previous knowledge about certain topics that I have forgotten about and thus making the course unique for high school students such as myself.”
