  • About the Hungarian Culture Exam

    Read the information below to familiarise yourself with the exam requirements.

    What is it and why is it necessary?

    The Hungarian Culture Exam is legally required if you wish to apply for a National Residence Card or an EU Residence Card in Hungary. This means that you have to have had sucessfully passed the Hungarian Culture Exam and hold the certificate of completion by the time you submit your application, and attach to itas a mandatoy enclosure.

    What is the exam like?

    The exam is in writing and in Hungarian.

    The exam administered by and is held in the Budapest Metropolitan Government Office (Budapest Főváros Kormányhivatala) at 1138 Budapest, Váci út 174.

    The exam fee is HUF20,000 per exam.

    The examinee has 60 minutes to complete theexam consisting of 12 questions (2 questions fromeach topic).

    Out of the maximum 30 points , a minimum of 16points is required to pass the exam.

    You may only attempt the exam 3 times.

    How can you apply for the Hungarian Culture Exam?

    Fill out the application form.

    Transfer the exam fee (HUF20,000) to the Hungarian Treasurey’s (Magyar Államkincstár) bank account: 10023002-00299592-00000000 and add your full name and “kulturális ismereti vizsga” in the comment section.

    Attach the proof of payment and the copy of your passport to the application form.

    Groups and individual learning plans are currated based on a Hungarian language placement test!
